Charles Krauthammer: We Could Be Looking at the Collapse of American Liberalism

In one of his finest moments on the O'Reilly Factor, (where Mr. O'Reilly remained silent long enough for Mr. Krauthammer to complete his sentence), Krauthammer said:

“We have not just ObamaCare unraveling, not just the Obama Administration unraveling, not just the Democrat’s majority in the Senate, but we could be looking at the collapse of American liberalism”

If you want to skip O’Reilly’s TPM, go to 3:15 where Mr. Krauthammer actually posits that the Republican Party can unite and are uniting in a common cause.

That the liberal progressive Democrats did completely invest themselves, (against the will of the people, and the Republican Party), we can only hope that Mr. Krauthammer is the Nostradamus of the 21st Century.

We Are Such a Safer World Under Obama

With the national exposure of the NSA spying program, and tapping the phones of our allies, this conversation took place on the Morning Joe Show.  You can watch the whole segment or skip to 8:47 to hear Joe mock the entire crew of the show.......

The look on every one of these liberal pundits was hilarious......as they had zero rebuttal.

49ers 2013 Mid-Season Evaluation

After scoring a total of ten points in the Niner’s two losses, (against Seattle and the Colts), the 6-2 Niners are now averaging almost 35 points per game during their five-game winning steak.  (34.8 to be exact)

However, not one team that the Niners defeated in this streak is over .500, (with Arizona at 4-4, and the rest under water).  After a well deserved bye week, the Niners will play  a possible 5-3 team (in Candlestick) against the Carolina Panthers.  The Panthers play at home against a fading Atlanta Falcons team, (currently at 2-5), while the Niners rest. It would be a serious mistake to take the Panthers lightly.

It gets a little tougher the next two weeks, as the Niners go on the road, first into New Orleans, (6-1 and could be 8-1 when they meet), and then into Washington against an unpredictable Redskins team, (currently at 2-5)  The game against the Saints could certainly be a prelude to a playoff game, even perhaps an NFC Championship game.

After the road trip, the Niners play their final four out of five games against teams under .500, (Rams, @Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and @Arizona), with THE BIG ONE coming in week #14, December 8th,  against our rival Seahawks at Candlestick.  This one will most likely decide the division leader, home field advantage, and of course bragging rights.  Bottom line---no one wants to see our Niners having to play back up in Seattle AGAIN THIS YEAR, so this is a must win for the Red and Gold.

The Forty Niners are approaching a bit of an internal dilemma these next few weeks, with players coming off the DL, (wide receivers Manningham and Crabtree, CB Eric Wright, and possibly Aldon Smith sometime soon---see link)

This means some players will have to come off the roster.  Rumors of letting Anthony Dixon go, bothers me, since he is a quality player, including special teams play.  We’ll see how the management does over the next few weeks.

Overall, after the disastrous 1-2 start, the 6-2 Niners have had a pretty good first half of the season with the running game now in full throttle, and Colin Kaepernick leading the NFC in QB ratings., (#3 in the entire league)  It looks like they’re improving on both sides of the ball each week, and even the special teams have been solid.  If they can remain healthy by December 8th, perhaps they can get some payback from the Seahawks, and set the future going into the playoffs.

Bonus question for real 49er fans: Does anyone know who McLeod Bethel-Thompson is?

Answer: Bethel-Thompson is our third string quarterback (currently inactive) behind Colt McCoy.  Bethel-Thompson was picked up on Oct. 9th when he was released by the Vikings and reportedly played well in pre-season.  See the full story here.

Sorry Mr. Krauthammer---We Disagree

I watched the special on Charles Krauthammer this morning, (with Bret Baier)

The interview with Dr. Krauthammer was a great/inspiring life story about overcoming a tragic freak accident, and not really missing a beat in charging ahead with life’s challenges. His story only solidifies my admiration for the man, (and his transition from a staunch liberal to a fairly right-wing Conservative).  And, it would be ungenerous to not mention his latest book being released: Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics

However..............,

I still have one argument with Dr. Krauthammer’s assessment/supposition of the ObamaCare debate. Krauthammer asserts that the “maneuver” by the Conservative right, (specifically Ted Cruz, and mostly Tea Party Republicans)---to completely defund ObamaCare---was a flawed strategy.  But his argument is based on the fact that the program had no chance of being defunded with only one legislative branch controlled by Republicans.  All true.  But here’s my rebuttal to Mr. Krauthammer:

#1): Where would the over-all awareness to the general public, and, more importantly, the voters, on the state of ObamaCare---which was officially starting its enrollment process, be without Ted Cruz’s 21-hour “filibuster”/information clinic?  What would have happened if Cruz or the Tea Party wing of the House NEVER ATTEMPTED to both repeal, and then defund this government take-over of the health insurance industry?  Would the liberal media, (even in their editorials), have written ANYTHING, but positive glorifying attributes about the unfolding nightmare?  Would the national coverage have been the same without Ted Cruz’s “campaign spectacle” exploiting this federal government grab?  Would the media ever have dared to report that millions are losing their current health care plans?  The answer is a resounding NO.

#2): (and this is admittedly awesome hindsight). Given how the events unfolded, (the disastrous roll-out, and website debacles), didn’t it become prudent that Democrats were put ON THE RECORD*, (as always by Harry Reid’s Do Nothing Senate), that they rejected every appropriation sent to the Senate during the partial “shutdown”, and debt ceiling “crisis”?  With several Senate Democrats now coming on board to delay the individual mandate, the bill sent to the Senate originally last July, and most recently just before the shutdown, that would have kept the government OPEN and RUNNING---Democrats are now on record for not compromising on one simple provision that is now becoming inevitable.  The liberal media will NEVER ADMIT to these facts, that President Obama, (who proclaimed from the start---”I will not negotiate with hostage-takers”) and Harry’s Senate were steadfast on denying any compromise offered by Republicans---INCLUDING DELAYING THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE.

* In the political world, putting an opponent “on the record”, (actual votes on legislation), carries far more weight than what ever rhetoric comes from the opponent, (or the liberal media’s echo-chamber/biased reporting).  When this next election cycle approaches, (2014 mid-terms), all the rhetorical ads and “proclamations”, made by the liberal Democrats, can be defeated by one Republican ad stating how the opponent VOTED ON THE RECORD.

I would submit that had Senator Cruz, (with no help from his RINO-BELTWAY Republican “colleagues”) and the House Republicans NOT PROVIDED the forum for national media attention, or the consistent House legislation sent to the Senate and summarily rejected, the table would never have been set, (to put Democrats on the record), and worse, ObamaCare would have limped in with little fanfare, far less scrutiny, and the American Public would have been subjected to an endless display of glorification by this impending disaster.   IT, (THE CRUZ-MISSLE) WAS NEVER ABOUT SERIOUSLY/LEGISLATIVELY REPEALING OBAMACARE.  Both Ted Cruz and House Republicans always knew it could never happen with Obama’s veto power.  However, it was about raising the goal post---read awareness---so more Americans would see the travesty that is ObamaCare.  In this premise, Mr. Krauthammer, it was a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

A Glitch in the Software

Bones: “Dammit Jim, I'm a Doctor not a software repairman!"

Spock: "Jim, I think Khan has infiltrated the system".

Scotty: "And you can expect only impulse power for a few light-years Jim"

Captain Kirk: "This wasn't in the Kobayashi Maru"

Spock: “The Kobayashi Maru didn’t have liberal progressive Democrats, Jim“.

Bones: “Is that a disease?  Maybe I can help”

Khan: [quoting from Melville's Moby Dick] To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!  “And, I will release ObamaCare into your computer systems, that you will never resolve, even if you re-write 5 million codes”.

Bones: “Never mind”.

That's right folks---FIVE MILLION CODES need to be re-written because some one decided in the days just before its release that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to allow prospective buyers to SHOP FIRST.

The first question Issa should ask Sebelius next week, is why some one in the administration decided to block the feature to SHOP FIRST, before signing up and providing your personal history from cradle to grave. Of course, we all know the answer, the government didn't want to scare off their lemmings with STICKER SHOCK, before they could LOCK IN your personal information that THEY NOW OWN FOR ETERNITY.

Sadly, the rising cost of health care premiums, (which politifact confirms), isn't the only liability of the Affordable Health Care Act.  Its roll-out has been an unmitigated nightmare.  And this is only the beginning.

Beam me up, Scotty, and get the engines into warp drive asap!

Update: Please read all of Allahpundit's "Quotes of the Day" to get a full description of this health care disaster.

Update #2: Liberal media pundits at each-others throats over O'Care roll-out.

Immigration Reform & And What the Media Won't Report

In an article written by Paul Bremmer at NewsBusters on the current conflicts of the Immigration bill being considered in the Senate, an interesting point about "trust in the media" became a major part of this story.  It seems that during a session on NPR, the question was brought up about how poorly Congress is rated as an institution, and, (as this mostly liberal panel submitted as fact), if Congress can't pass this Immigration Reform Bill "with bi-partisan support", it will further affirm why Congress has such a poor rating.

Enter: Charles Krauthammer, who also happened to be on the NPR Panel:

Charles Krauthammer brilliantly and effortlessly raised an issue on last Friday’s Inside Washington that is near and dear to our hearts here at NewsBusters. It came during a discussion of the immigration reform effort now underway in both houses of Congress. Panelists Evan Thomas and Nina Totenberg agreed that if immigration reform fails to pass, given that many in both parties support it, it would be a sad commentary on Congress.
This prompted moderator Gordon Peterson to confront Krauthammer with some new Gallup poll data about Americans’ confidence in certain institutions, including Congress: “Congress ranks last out of 16 [institutions]. A 10 percent approval rating – 10 percent! The lowest level of confidence Gallup has ever polled. The lowest for any institution on record.” [Video below. MP3 audio here.]
Krauthammer responded with a simple question: “And what's the confidence in journalists?” Peterson, who is a journalist himself, could only chuckle, “Uh, I didn’t mention that.” Off-camera, Thomas and fellow panelist Mark Shields could be heard muttering that confidence in journalists was around 25 percent. To which Krauthammer quipped, “Saddam Hussein is somewhere in between, I’ll bet.”

Low and behold, the 25% was a bit generous:

The Gallup poll in question actually measures confidence in television news and newspapers separately. In this year’s poll, released on June 13, Americans’ confidence in those two institutions happened to be the same: 23 percent. That means they were tied for 11th place among the 16 institutions asked about in the poll.

But, what I'd like to opine about, (for the remainder of this post) is why the media is held in such low esteem with the liberal media's narratives (mis-information and omissions) specifically on the Immigration legislation before us.  To properly preface this, we must include the quotes from two other panelist in this story, Evan Thomas and Nina Totenberg:

EVAN THOMAS: This is a real test of functional government. If they can’t get this done, when you really have a lot of Republican momentum as well as Democratic, when you have labor and the chamber of commerce, when you have all these forces in alignment and they can't get it done. That's a time when Americans ought to be really worried about Congress.

NINA TOTENBERG: Well, it is one of these situations of the tail wagging the dog. The smallest part of the base – in the Republican party it's probably, I don’t know, a third of the base or 40 percent of the base – is now wagging the whole dog. And if we can't get this done, as Evan says, when everybody seems to want to do it, it doesn't speak well for us.

Here's a perfect illustration of Krauthammer's point----the liberal media's assertion/narrative that "everybody's on board" with this Senate legislation on immigration.  Everybody doesn't want to "do it".

What Totenberg and the liberal media won’t tell you, (the American public), is that just like the backroom deals with the Insurance industry and the Big Pharmaceutical companies that took place with Obama and the Democrats, (before one page of legislation was written in the “Affordable Health Care Act”---ObamaCare), the FOUR DEMOCRATS in the Gang of 8---during the mark-up of the bill---told the FOUR REPUBLICANS that “this was already a done deal”, meaning they, the Democrats, had already solidified commitments with---ready for this--- BIG BUSINESS & LABOR UNIONS, AKA SPECIAL INTEREST.  Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions exposed this on the Senate Floor more than two weeks ago, and the story was written in the Daily Caller, but you, (the American public), won’t hear this from Nina Totenberg, the NPR, or anyone else in the liberal media.

Further, Senator Sessions wrote an op-ed in the LA Times about the deficiencies in this bill.  The Times also included a poll asking readers: “Do you agree with Sen. Sessions on immigration?”  The results were stunningly and overwhelmingly YES 83% to 17% NO’s.

What the liberal media won’t tell you, (the American public), is that Marco Rubio, (along with Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and Jeff Flake) all had to know in advance that Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, and company had already made their beds with the devil---the special interest that are in total control of this legislation.  Now, the question must be asked, how, and why are Marco Rubio and these three other RINO’s also involved?  Does anyone smell a “cornhusker kick-back”?  Again, we have to go back to what Mr. Evan Thomas said:

"This is a real test of functional government. If they can’t get this done, when you really have a lot of Republican momentum as well as Democratic, when you have labor and the chamber of commerce, when you have all these forces in alignment and they can't get it done. That's a time when Americans ought to be really worried about Congress."

Evan Thomas couldn’t be more wrong.  As Krauthammer has asserted, when the MEDIA can't/won't report the truth about what's going on with this legislation, and instead produces its own false narratives, I would submit it is NOT CONGRESS we should be worried about.  We should be worried about the continued practices of the LIBERAL MEDIA, who lie to Americans on a daily basis.  For the sake of this Country's future, please read the links provided in this post, (Sessions at the Times, and in the Daily Caller).  Write your representatives in both the House and the Senate.  Tell them that Americans will not submit to another round of ObamaCare tactics----pack of lies and backroom deals, (or the showcase of phony amendments), under the guise of Immigration Reform.  And let every one of this GANG OF EIGHT understand that they will choke on this fatally flawed legislation at the polls.  And don't expect the "trustful" liberal media to inform you that this legislation IS A DISASTER IN THE MAKING.  As Krauthammer asserted, you might have gotten a more truthful reporting from Saddam Hussein.

Bringing a Knife to a Gun Fight

So, now that the British and French have convinced the EU to lift an arms embargo off of Syria, (to arm “only” moderate anti-Bashar rebels, who have been relying on well-armed extremists in their ranks), Russia has stepped in with its first shipment of lethal long range S300 surface to air missiles to President Bashar‘s military.  Smart move?

After over seventy thousand have perished in this ugly civil war, Russia’s “involvement” certainly puts a cramp on a scheduled “peace conference” in June according to CNN

“While the ban will technically be lifted on Saturday, it is expected that the earliest EU countries would send weapons to the rebels would be August, so as not to imperil the prospects of a U.S. and Russian-brokered peace conference scheduled to take place in Geneva in June.”

It appears that no one---including John McCain, the folks at CNN, or the LA Times---had any idea that Russia was also playing this deadly game.  So much for John McCain’s sneaky surprise visit to the Rebel Commanders.  From the LA Times:

“LONDON — Diplomatic pressure on Syrian President Bashar Assad escalated Monday, as a divided European Union agreed to relax a ban on weapons shipments to anti-Assad forces and U.S. Sen. John McCain met with insurgent commanders during a surprise visit to the country.
Meanwhile, top U.S. and Russian diplomats met in Paris in a bid to solidify plans for a peace conference that both nations view as the only hope for a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis, which has already left tens of thousands of people dead and threatens to spark a regional conflagration. U.S. Secretary of State John F. Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, have yet to set a date for the conference or announce who will be attending the session in Geneva.”

With the Russians now deploying serious air defense weapons into the hands of Bashar’s army, doesn’t this escapade, (Kerry and Sergei’s meeting) remind you of the peace talks between Japanese and U.S. diplomats while Yamamoto and Naqumo were steaming their aircraft carriers towards Pearl Harbor?  Putin has made no bones about supporting and arming the Syrian President, while President Obama remains about as committed as he was sending rescue troops into Benghazi.  (Oh wait, some one ordered our troops to stand down.)  This armchair general thinks Obama, McCain, and Kerry are all naïve enough to think supplying the rebels with weapons that won’t fall into al Qaeda, (or other radical jihadist) hands was the ticket to force  Bashar Assad to step down.  As I suggested in the title, a “knife fight” just doesn’t cut it when Putin and the Russians are passing out the “big guns”, and these three have been caught with their pants down……again.

Exit question: Does anyone in the State Department or in this administration really know what's going on here? Or, are they waiting to read about it in the newspapers.

A Refreshing Reality from a Liberal (Video)

From our esteemed Juan Williams, (professed liberal and Fox News contributor), talks with Jon Scott on Happening Now.  Williams explains head on what the shape of the minority community is in with this segment titled, "Role of race in gun control debate":

Role of race in gun control debate

In my humble opinion, Williams gave every reason to defend gun rights and by extension traditional marriage rights because of the breakdown of the family unit.  Williams accused President Obama of ignoring the 800 pound gorilla in the room, by not recognizing that “every four months in Chicago equals ONE NEWTOWN“.  Williams went on to quote statistics on how the Latino and Black communities have the highest rate of murder in the nation, citing the rapper‘s “hero mentality” of a man with a gun and the badge of honor of going to prison.  I couldn’t believe my ears!

Williams extends this debate fully in a Wall Street Journal article published on March 26th, 2013:

The No. 1 cause of death for African-American men between the ages of 15 and 34: being murdered with a gun.

By JUAN WILLIAMS

"This week much of the talk about gun control concerns New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's $12 million ad campaign to put pressure on senators in key states to support legislation that he backs. Or the talk is about the National Rifle Association's pushback against the Bloomberg campaign. Then there was last week's mini-tempest over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's decision not to include Sen. Dianne Feinstein's assault-weapon ban in a comprehensive gun-control bill the Senate will take up next month.
One thing you don't hear much about in the discussions of guns: race.
That is an astonishing omission, because race ought to be an inescapable part of the debate. Gun-related violence and murders are concentrated among blacks and Latinos in big cities. Murders with guns are the No. 1 cause of death for African-American men between the ages of 15 and 34. But talking about race in the context of guns would also mean taking on a subject that can't be addressed by passing a law: the family-breakdown issues that lead too many minority children to find social status and power in guns.
The statistics are staggering. In 2009, for example, the Centers for Disease Control reported that 54% of all murders committed, overwhelmingly with guns, are murders of black people. Black people are about 13% of the population."
It's quite obvious why the liberal media, Barack Obama, or anyone in the Democratic leadership won't address this travesty---they are all cowards when it comes to admitting the truth about where the guns are doing the most damage in this nation.  It simply wouldn't fit their pathetic narrative of only radical right-wing conservatives clinging to their Guns and Bibles, while sadly a huge minority of Americans are mired in poverty with a "self-slaughtering" mentality.  Keep looking the other way President Obama.  You've only got three and a half more years when it's no longer "your problem".  We could certainly use more Juan Williams' who chose to speak out on this issue.

Liberal Progressive Democrats: "Progressively" Becoming The Party of “Hate and Racism”

I’ve had it!  Enough is enough.  And I’m calling on President Obama* and his Democratic Leaders, (and the liberal media and their pundits), TO STOP USING HATE AND RACE as the pathetic excuse for when Liberal Progressive Democrats can’t win a political or ideological argument.  Stand on your convictions.  Use facts and your intelligence to state your case or make a reasonable argument.  But, from this day forward, if, in the course of an argument or a debate, you inject/imply that my opinion/argument is based on RACIAL OVERTONES OR HATE, the conversation is over, done.  I will no longer engage in any form of debate if you cowards use these accusations as a tool to advance your argument.

1) RACE!  The color of a human’s skin/epidermis IS NOT RELEVANT.  I simply do not care what color your skin is.  I do not care what your ethnic background is during the course of an argument or a debate.  We are all God’s children and GOD IS COLOR-BLIND and so am I.

2) HATE!  To all political affiliations and especially The Liberal Democratic Party:  Just because I disagree with your political philosophy or ideology it does not mean that I HATE YOU.  STOP USING THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE.  Let me repeat this---I DO NOT PERSONALLY HATE ANYONE.  My teachings and upbringing (and my Christian values), does not allow for personal hate.  Hate for our fellow man/woman only breeds sin and eventually the total destruction of moral values.  I may hate your ideology.  I may hate your actions, or your words, but I do not hate you personally.  Again, we are all God’s children, and they do not hate their fellow human beings.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: If you intend to engage me in a conversation or debate about anything, BE FORWARNED, if you accuse me of personal hating or any form of racial bigotry, the conversation IS OVER.  I will no longer tolerate or engage in this pathetic and cowardly form of “debate” being used predominately by the Liberal Democrats or any political affiliation for that matter.  If you’re a Republican, Conservative, Libertarian, Democrat, Liberal, Progressive, Moderate, or whatever, if you inject/accuse anyone of HATE OR RACISM into the conversation, IT IS YOU that has resorted to the lowest form of human dignity.  IT IS YOU who have taken this cowardly and despicable path.  GROW UP!  AND STOP THE HATE!

*  President Barack Obama,

Dear Mr. President,

I am calling on you Mr. President to STOP THE HATE.  By your silence on this issue, you sir are condoning this despicable practice of injecting hate and racism during American political and ideological debate.  By your silence, many of those in your party, (and by extension, your media**) are purposely employing this cowardly form/tool to prevent/discourage this nation’s right to speak freely, without reservation or fear of being accused of racial bigotry or hate.  By your silence, you, yourself, are complicit in these inexcusable forms of conversation.  By your silence, you sir are allowing the dignity and honorable American right of free speech to be denigrated by these shallow and despicable acts predominately brought about/used by your Party.  Please, I beg you to end your silence on this issue---make a statement, be an American President to ALL AMERICANS, and use your leadership to prove to all Americans that employing HATE AND RACAIL PREDJUDICE/BIGOTRY in the course of a debate is not only discouraged, but condemned by your administration.  Only by your silence on this issue, do you continue to divide a nation that is desperately in need of unity, that demands the practice of respectful debate carried out by our citizenry.  YOU, Mr. President can begin to STOP THE HATE.

Update:  It appears Bill Cosby has gone off the deep end and joined in the "Republicans Hate Blacks" narrative:

Bill Cosby Rants Against Republicans, Compares Them to Segregationists for Not Applauding Obama

Commenter UnwantedFoe sums up what most would say about Cosby's over-the-top accusations:

UnwantedFoe  5 hours ago
"And in public schools, we need to get the education of the correct history that happened"
Oh dear Lord does Cosby need to learn the "correct" history of what happened with slavery... Does he not realize it was the republican party fighting to abolish slavery and the democrats wanting to keep their slaves? Then to suggest the republican party is unhappy blacks aren't slaves anymore? His ignorance is highly insulting.

I suppose Mr. Cosby would like to re-write the history of the 1964 Civil Rights Bill, (originally proposed by John F, Kennedy and signed into law by Lyndon Johnson), where one "southern" Republican, and eighteen southern Democrats launched a filibuster against the passage of the bill.

The bill came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964 and the "Southern Bloc" of 18 southern Democratic Senators and one Republican Senator led by Richard Russell (D-GA) launched a filibuster to prevent its passage.[10] Said Russell: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states."[11]  (link*)
(* for the purpose of this post, I've used the sometimes un-reliable Wikipedia as a reference with the above quoted paragraph.  If there are any discrepancies or any part of the paragraph that is not factual, I will re-visit this post and amend it, if necessary)

How pitiful was it that as late as 1964, our "civilized" society, (led by a strong majority of DEMOCRATS) could endorse the comments of Senator Richard Russell (D-GA).  I would like to ask Mr. Cosby if he knew who was standing and applauding at this period in our history?  And how sad is it that a once respected and honorable American such as Bill Cosby has sunk to this level of (insert proper phrase), by creating his own self-bigotry to advance a conversation.  Shame on you Bill.

The pathetic use of “hate” and racial accusations being used by liberal democrats is the automatic signal that they have run out of any intelligent basis for debate.  When you see these key words in a posted sentence, be aware that the poster has lost the argument, and no other response is necessary.  If you engage any further in the conversation after the poster has used hate or race, you will only sink to their cowardly and despicable level.
