Remembering 2008

The number eight has been my lucky number since I turned 8 years old. Even on 8/08/88, my ex-girlfriend called me at work to wish me a happy multiple eight. 1968 was the year I won my first district championship as a 106 pound wrestler, (little big-man on campus), and my sweetheart was the homecoming queen. 1978 was a great year for California cabernets. Not sure what happened in '98, but 2008 may go down as my least favorite year. Saying goodbye to a President, (that may take historians a few decades to sort though the biased media's crucifixion before getting the story straight), I can't help but feel a little less safer with the liberal-pseudo-mentality that's now in charge of protecting this nation. Those who passed away in 2008 may be the fortunate one's who will not have to endure the potential mayhem to come. Gone, but certainly not forgotten was Charlton Heston, a champion of protecting our 2nd amendment rights. Other legends that passed on this year include Bo Diddley, Jim McKay, and the other "old blue eyes" Paul Newman.

On the political side, never in this nation's short history has the tide of liberalism/socialism been so blatantly aided by an unrelenting media hell bent on shoving their ideology down the throats of a gullible electorate. This was definitely the year that if you promised the moon, (with no regard to the cost passed on to generations), you got elected. Even our President-elect Barack Obama spent most of his campaign promising up to a trillion dollars in new social welfare programs knowing full well none could be delivered with a conscience of fiscal responsibility. Following this new President's 126 day tenure as a Senate representative, is a trail of stench emulating from a "time honored" corruptive system of Chicago Machine politics where quid pro quo warrants an Oscar winning performance that the Hollywood left would envy. What transpires ahead with a brazen Governor bred in corruption, ("f**k his appreciation"), and apparently giving the Illinois electorate and Washington establishment the proverbial finger, only the liberal media can fold this embarrassment into a "well baked" story of racial inequality and justifiable to the masses. 52% has already swallowed the head of the poisonous snake----might as well swallow the tail/tale.

It only took two years for a "new direction" democrat controlled house and senate to relegate the congress to the
lowest ratings in Gallup polling history. Now that they control both the legislative and executive branches of our government, it's only a matter of time before the judiciary is infected and begins re-writing the constitution. As a conservative that has held onto the morals of individual responsibility, I'm not only disheartened by the events that took place this year, I fear this "new direction" is fraught with more dissection and denigration of a once moral society that took the ten commandments seriously.

While I attempted to "google" up a lighter and more positive side of this nation's political direction, sadly I found little that could brighten up our future as leaders of the free world. George W. Bush and
our fallen Patriots of this great nation rose to the task when this country saw three thousand souls perish on 9/11. He took the fight to their shores and their caves that these cowards crawl in. Oh, and in the process, managed to liberate two nations who had lived for decades in tyrannical repression where civil human rights did not exist. Bush also promised to do everything in his power to prevent another attack on our soil. To that end, his promise has been fulfilled, and for that we should all be grateful. Historians will again be tasked with the responsibility for "righting" / writing these facts while filtering out the media bias that allowed infectious fabrications (fueled by Bush Derangement Syndrome) and led by the liberal garbage of the New York Times, (Bill Keller), NBC, (Jeff Zucker) et all, where Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin's family were "scrutinized" more than our President-elect.

Disclaimer: While I detest Barack Obama's politics of socialist welfare ideology that may hasten this country's regression into government dependency, unlike most of my liberal friends that never recognized President Bush as legitimate, (like it or not), Barack Obama IS my President. I cannot in good conscience and moral standing wish any ill will on a man that has so much "ordained" on his shoulders in these trying times.

2008 may very well go down in U.S. history as the "year/progression of change". But the number eight may also have faded from my "lucky number" adoration.

May the New Year bring about a sanity of individual responsibility based on the moral principals that our founding fathers thought were critical enough to put in our constitution that not only provided, but protected us from a government for and by the people. History has provided us with what happens to a society that hands too much power or dependency to any government. Whether we are doomed to repeat it remains to be seen.

Scarborough Rips MSM

Via Newsbusters, this is one of the best indictments of the failures, (deliberate omissions), by the mainstream media.

From Mark Finkelstein:

"In one of the more incisive indictments of the MSM I've witnessed, certainly by one of its own, Joe Scarborough tore into the media this morning for its failure to have investigated Barack Obama's political roots. In particular, the Morning Joe host ripped the MSM for not testing the truth of Ryan Lizza's reporting, above, of Rahm Emanuel's claim that he and Obama were central figures in Blago's 2002 gubernatorial campaign. Scarborough pointed out that already this summer, when the Lizza article appeared, it was known that Blago was under a deep ethical cloud. Yet the MSM charged off to Wasilla to investigate Sarah Palin's librarian, utterly uninterested in the report of Obama's intimate link with America's most corrupt governor. John Harwood of NYT/CNBC and Mike Barnicle played the perfect foils for Scarborough's impassioned tirade, Barnicle going so far as to claim that no investigation was necessary: his "instinct" told him that Emanuel had overstated Obama's involvement with Blago's campaign." LINK

Please go to the link and watch the video of Scarborough basically saying what most Conservatives said thoughout the Presidential campaign: "where's the vetting process for Barack Obama?"

Some one needs to archive this video before it gets vaporized by MSNBC.

Illinois Scandal Continues to Unwind

Governor Rod Blagojevich (D-Ill) apparently did not get the memo that the practice of "squeeze" politics would not transcend to the upper levels of Washington. The Chicago Machine bread governor must have misinterpreted Barack Obama's promise of change from the business as usual style of quid pro quo, lobbyist funded earmarks, or the standard pay to play modus operandi that has plagued Illinois politics for generations.

It's possible that President-elect Obama's right hand man, chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel may have also missed the memo. According to the Washington Times, a "president-elect advisor" may have engaged the Obama team in questionable negotiations with the governor over who would inherit Barack Obama's senate seat:

Five days after Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich was arrested in a "pay-for-play" scandal, President-elect Barack Obama's transition team has yet to reveal the name of the "president-elect advisor" mentioned six times in a federal criminal complaint in the case or what the adviser's conversations with the governor were about. Chicago power player and Mr. Obama's newly named chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, continued Saturday to decline to comment, even as reports emerged that the Illinois congressman had conversations with Mr. Blagojevich's staff both before and after the Nov. 4 presidential election about Mr. Obama's preferred candidates for his now-vacated Senate seat. LINK

The article goes on to explain how Governor Blagojevich was taped saying he wanted the "president-elect advisor" to know he expected some valuable concessions for appointing candidate number one, (now understood to be Valerie Jarret) to take Obama's seat. While Mr. Emanuel remains quiet during these past few days, Obama has insisted that no one on his staff engaged in any wrong-doing:

On Thursday, Mr. Obama told reporters that nobody in his transition office tried to make a deal with the Illinois governor about filling the vacant Senate seat, adding that he had not been contacted by federal authorities during their investigation of the governor. Mr. Obama said his office was compiling and would present any contacts his staff had with the governor, but said he is "certain" they didn't cross any lines, although it was unclear when any such report would be made public.

"Our office had no involvement in any deal-making around my Senate seat. That I'm absolutely certain of. That would be a violation of everything this campaign is about," Mr. Obama said.

The media and the public will be waiting with baited breath for Mr. Obama's "presentation". One can be certain that it will be a well thought out dissertation revealing just enough red meat to give the "journalist" and bloggers indigestion, depending on which way the string is wound around the top. So far, our left-streamed media, (print and broadcast), has painstakingly reported this scandal with the same curiosity and disgust as the right-wingers who are salavitating over ever detail. The only obvious omission/neglect is the missing party affiliation when writing their stories. (Note to "journalist": this is a democrat scandal that measures with some of the worst corruption cases in this nation's history----and yes, our President-elect is indirectly involved.)

(by Rovin)

"The heart of machine politics is deal making and deal making is a political tradition in Illinois. You give nothing away. Everything is traded. Everything is a deal and that's how this state has operated from the very beginning." (Paul Green, director of the Institute for Politics at Chicago's Roosevelt University) LINK

Rovin's Observations:

How soon will some one write a book about the rise and fall of Rod Blagojevich? Byron York at National Review Online writes about how an investigation suddenly stopped.

The Chicago Machine, a political juggernaut within itself, is probably feeling like an ant under a magnifying glass, and the heat should be unbearable. Susan Jones, Senior Editor at warns of more Chicago-style corruption with government intervention into private business.

The Service Employees International Union may have been playing a large part in this scandal.

Patrick Fitzgerald should be feeling like
Eliot Ness right about now. Taking on the “Mob” mentality in 21st century Illinois parallels Ness’s late 20’s adventure of bringing a furniture dealer named Alphonse Capone to justice.

So far, President-elect Barack Obama, (who emerged from the cesspool of the Chicago Machine) has been tip-towing through the tulips avoiding the apparent associations that shaped his political career. (insert link)

If “
candidate number five” is Jessie Jackson Jr. and number one is Valerie Jarrett, will candidates number two thru four please step forward and accept your prize?

Could some one remind the moron journalist and editors in the mainstream media that the political affiliation belongs in the first paragraph after the named perpetrator? (note to publishers: Blogojevich is a democrat!)

Al Gore is still waiting to cash in his carbon credits with Barack Obama.
